DBHIDS Organizational Development
At DBHIDS, Organizational Development relies on two key initiatives that create accessible pathways for employees to ensure that the values and principles of fairness, inclusivity, and employee voice are integrated into workplace decision-making and organizational culture.
Through these initiatives, employees are empowered to share their perspectives, actively participate in organizational change, and contribute to identifying and addressing outcome gaps.
Key initiatives:
Employee Engagement
Utilizes effectiveness assessment tools aimed at addressing internal needs, closing outcome gaps, and amplifying the voices of our workforce.
- Employee Information Gathering Sessions are designed to gather input and feedback from the workforce to help inform Departmental strategic planning efforts.
- Employee Listening Sessions provide an opportunity for executive management to actively listen, gather feedback, and take thoughtful notes without interruption while gaining insight into the ideas, visions, experiences, and concerns of the workforce.
- Organizational Development Steering Committee, a 25-member, 12-month rotating committee comprised of staff from all six DBHIDS divisions and levels to actively participate in Departmental planning, development, and decision-making.
- Diversity Day Planning Committee, a volunteer, staff-led committee responsible for coordinating the annual Diversity Day event and encouraging staff to showcase their unique identities.
- Employee Resource Groups provide employees with access to a comprehensive library of educational tools and platforms designed to promote professional autonomy, networking, and growth. Employees may develop their own presentation topics while adhering to DBHIDS guidelines to ensure consistent standards of excellence.
Employee Professional Development
Promotes professional growth and development by creating multiple opportunities for DBHIDS and other City staff members to educate and engage on topics of interest and relevance while adhering to DBHIDS guidelines to ensure consistency, quality, and standards of excellence.
Organizational Development offers the following opportunities to DBHIDS and other City units.
- ChatUP: A lunchtime session connecting staff over conversation.
- Did You Know?: An insightful weekly communication.
- Lunch & Learn Series: A 1.5-hour presentation covering a variety of topics.
- SkillUP: A 20-minute non-interactive virtual educational segment.
- The Healing Space: An hourly employee wellness safe space.
