The Philadelphia Model Celebration

DBHIDS Interim Deputy Commissioner Amanda David, and CBH COO Andy Devos were thrilled to be a part of the recent celebration of the advancement of services for older adults with serious mental illness – the anniversary of the launch of The Philadelphia Model.

The Be Well at MPAC program is the first program in the country to implement The Philadelphia Model – providing 24/7 behavioral health care in a nursing home environment to support individuals with serious mental illness like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The program could not have been implemented without support from numerous state and local officials, including people like Pa. DHS Secretary Val Arkoosh, State LTC Ombudsman Margaret Barajas, Secretary of Aging Jason Kavulich, Sen. Sharif Street, and Reps. Roni Green and Malcolm Kenyatta.
