The IDS Division of DBHIDS celebrated 25 years of honoring Direct Support/Service Professionals (DSP) at the Points of Transformation awards by only not awarding those who were stand-outs for 2025 — along with honorable mentions — but by treating guests to a presentation of a family who utilizes the care of a DSP… teaching others how vitally important DSPs are and acknowledging that they truly become like family.
Along with long-time emcee Loraine Ballard Morrill of iheart media, guest speakers praised the work that DSPs do, underscoring the fact that it can be difficult and rewarding. Guests were treated to performances by the SPIN choir and were also reminded by Charlotte Andrews of The Lotus W.E.L.L to take care of themselves as well, noting the adage, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”
IDS’s Public Awareness Committee, who arrange the annual event, also received a proclamation from Pa. Gov. Josh Shapiro.
