The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services is bringing back in-person Opioid Overdose Prevention & Narcan Rescue Training, a vital, hands-on session designed to empower people with the skills and knowledge to help save lives.
In this training, you will learn:
- The basics of opioid dependency — for medically prescribed and non-prescribed opioids.
- The impact of the opioid crisis locally and nationally.
- Good Samaritan laws that protect those who help in an overdose situation.
- Philadelphia’s coordinated efforts to address the epidemic.
- How naloxone (Narcan) works to reverse an opioid overdose.
- How to recognize overdose risk factors and warning signs.
- How to administer Narcan safely and effectively.
