SUMMARY:Beyond Expectations: Reclaiming Love – Self\, Brotherhood\, and Community
DESCRIPTION:Beyond Expectations: Reclaiming Love – Self\, Brotherhood\, and Community is a powerful storytelling event hosted by DBHIDS Engaging Males of Color (EMOC) in collaboration with First Person Arts. \nIn a world that often defines men and boys of color by limits rather than potential\, this evening is a radical act of truth-telling\, healing\, and reclamation. Through the transformative art of storytelling\, men of color and community members will share lived experiences centered around three interconnected forms of love: self-love\, love for your brother\, and love for our community. \nThis is not just an event\, it is a gathering of the village. We come together to explore what truly means to love ourselves in a society that often teaches us not to. We affirm the bonds of brotherhood that help us carry one another through struggle and triumph. And we ask the village: how do we love our children\, especially our boys\, so they feel seen\, valued\, and protected? We ground this gathering in the wisdom of the African proverb: “If the child does not feel the warmth of the village\, he will burn it down just to feel it”. This event is not just a Call to Action but a Call to LOVE. \nCLICK TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:The Art of Reporting
DESCRIPTION:DBHIDS is excited to invite you to The Art of Reporting! \nThe purpose of this event is to have a conversation style overview session about how to report work earnings to social service entities such as the Social Security Administration\, Department of Public Welfare\, and more. We aim to provide a foundational level of understanding about the importance of reporting and how not doing so could impact one’s benefits. Our subject matter experts will discuss their experience reporting or supporting an individual who is reporting. \nDuring this meeting\, we will provide light refreshments as well as free groceries provided by our partner\, Sharing Excess. There will be opportunities to network and hear stories from other attendees. \nIn order to attend this event\, the registration form must be completed by end May 6. If the registration form is not completed\, we cannot guarantee that you can attend this event since there is limited capacity. Additionally\, the form captures information to best meet your needs during the event. We are so looking forward to meeting with you! \nThis event is for individuals who are entering into the workforce and receiving benefits\, as well as their supports such as case managers\, MPRS’s\, CPS’s\, CRS’s\, CHW’s\, or any other identified person on a care team. We will go over why reporting is important\, how and when to report\, and how not reporting can impact one’s benefits. Our speakers will be sharing their perspective as either a support person or someone with lived experience. \nWe’ll also be highlighting MAWD\, or Medical Assistance for Workers with Disabilities. MAWD is an excellent option for those who no longer qualify for public assistance due to their income . \nCLICK TO REGISTER
