SUMMARY:DBHIDS Immigrant/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA)
DESCRIPTION:The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is excited to launch its fourth cohort of the Immigrant/Refugee Wellness Academy. IRWA is a free certificate training program designed to empower and prepare Philadelphia’s multilingual/multicultural immigrants and refugees with the knowledge\, resources\, and tools to engage in activities that address the mental health and behavioral challenges experienced by local immigrant and refugee communities. \nThe program will enhance participants’ leadership skills\, increase knowledge about behavioral health and intellectual disability challenges\, and empower graduates with the tools to access local resources for themselves and their communities. It consists of an orientation\, eight sessions\, and a graduation ceremony. IRWA is offered in person and through virtual sessions. Standard sessions will run from 2 to 4 p.m. There will also be two special sessions: Mental Health Interpretation\, which will last four hours\, and Mental Health First Aid\, is an all-day session. \nFor questions\, email Sarorng Sorn at Sarorng.sorn@phila.gov or Kori White at Kori.white@phila.gov. \nCLICK TO APPLY
