Trauma-Informed De-Escalation Training

March 6 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

UPDATE: This training event has reached its capacity. Please check back for more opportunities.

This training explores the relationship between stress, crisis, trauma, and toxic stress; focuses on the connection between trauma and escalation; and introduces specific de-escalation strategies in working with trauma survivors. Trainees learn about the similarities and differences between stress, crisis, trauma, and toxic stress. They consider some of the challenges trauma survivors experience when expressing their emotions. Participants explore several concepts that can support trauma survivors in de-escalating. These concepts include safety, power/control, communication, empathy, naming feelings, and validation. This training includes small group activities, large group discussions, and didactic material.

**Each training is CE/CEU eligible.**

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
• Identify four sources of adversity that clients may experience.
• Learn about six de-escalation strategies to implement during interactions with traumatized populations.
• Identify three ways trauma may impact individuals’ emotions and behavior.

Target Audience: Human service professionals, community partners, master’s level clinicians, or clinicians in training.

Presenter: Meagan Corrado, DSW, LCSW, has trained over 8,000 clinicians, community leaders, and trauma survivors across 22 innovative training programs. Dr. Corrado has authored 10 books and founded Storiez Trauma Narratives. She earned her master’s degree in social services from Bryn Mawr College and her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

These webinars will be hosted on the DBHIDS Learning Hub.
