10-day specialized training for individuals in recovery from an opioid use disorder
Oct. 18-22 and 25-29
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m (lunch is provided)
No cost to attend
This training prepares individuals to obtain the credential that recognizes the work of recovering individuals in the provision of recovery support services in assisting others in accessing and sustaining recovery from substance use disorders.
Participants will receive 78 hours of education in the following domains:
- 21 hours in recovery planning and collaboration
- 18 hours in substance use knowledge
- 12 hours ethical responsibility and professionalism
- 9 hours in communication, interpersonal, and professional skills
- 6 hours in advocacy
- 6 hours in safety and self-care
- 6 hours in cultural competency

The Certified Recovery Specialist(CRS) credential is certified by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB). The Council is a PCB-approved provider of this combined training offering the new 78-hour standardized curriculum required to apply for the CRS credential. This training consists of 66 in-person hours and 12 hours of online quizzes and other homework.
IMPORTANT: To be qualified for this CRS training, the candidate must have a minimum of 18 months continuous lived substance use disorder recovery experience and a high school diploma/GED or higher prior to registering.
Please note that The Council is NOT the certifying board, but will provide participants with certificates for the completion of the curriculum that the participant then submits with their credentialing application to the PCB.

(A $150 credential administration fee is payable to PCB upon making application after the training, and is NOT included in the covered training costs.)
