The DBHIDS Division of Intellectual disAbility Services and its Public Awareness Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the 32nd Annual “My City, My Place” Brighter Futures Awards at our celebration May 7.
Nominees are community members or groups who made a difference in others’ lives as well as support individuals registered with Philadelphia Intellectual disAbility Services. The Brighter Futures Awards are for individuals from all walks of life: neighbors, people with disabilities, teachers, friends, family, employers, co-workers, spiritual leaders, civic groups, organizations, self-advocates, medical professionals, political leaders, business owners, and more.
More than 32 years ago, the Public Awareness Committee was charged to create, promote, and enhance the supports and services available to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Today, individuals have access to quality services and supports that foster choices in their everyday lives, meaningful personal relationships with friends, family, neighbors, presence and participation in their communities, and dignity and respect as valued residents of Philadelphia.
Nominees were individuals, groups, or organizations who promote and provide vital programs, supports, and services in recreation, health and wellness, employment, socialization, spirituality, politics, art, music, education, and volunteerism.
Celebrate in person and take part in the ceremony, resource fair, and workshops on Tuesday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Live Hotel, 900 Packer Ave., Market Ballroom. Tickets are $35, and registration is required.
Please help us celebrate those nominated who exemplify our motto:
IT’S ALL ABOUT COMMUNITY!
