It develops strategies to promote successful community integration and recovery and resilience strengthening opportunities.<\/p><p>In addition to these activities, the unit creates initiatives designed to reach individuals who may disproportionately access services.<\/p><p>The Community Outreach and Engagement Unit is also the central group responsible for managing, tracking, and reporting on general community-based event efforts for DBHIDS and serves as the point of contact for current outreach and engagement resources and materials.<\/p><h5>Vision<\/h5><p>We envision a Philadelphia where every individual can achieve health, well-being, and self-determination<\/p><h5>Mission<\/h5><p>The mission of the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services is to educate, strengthen, and serve individuals and communities so that all Philadelphians can thrive<\/p><h5>Goals<\/h5><ul><li>Create and cultivate innovative community-based strategies<\/li><li>Decrease disparities within a diverse spectrum of underserved groups<\/li><li>Cultivate community partnerships to promote the DBHIDS mission and vision<\/li><li>Promote inclusion and foster outreach and engagement to bring awareness to behavioral health and wellness<\/li><li>Develop opportunities for staff to collaborate on community connection and mobilization<\/li><\/ul><h6>Community-building activities include:<\/h6><ul><li>Building and strengthening partnerships with community- and faith-based organizations, providers, advocacy organizations, people in recovery, and family members<\/li><li>Providing local community education about mental health, addictions challenges, and recovery to promote greater understanding and acceptance of the needs of people in recovery<\/li><li>Working with local communities to identify and address disparities in behavioral health-related services <\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7a169ef elementor-widget elementor-widget-accordion\" data-id=\"7a169ef\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"accordion.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1281\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1281\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened\"><i class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Faith and Spiritual Affairs Initiative<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1281\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1281\"><p>In 2005, DBHIDS created a faith-based initiative to build partnerships with Philadelphia\u2019s faith and spiritual leaders to reach individuals in their communities.
