COVID-19 is a national public health threat to all people of every community, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or language capability. There have been reports nationally of individuals of Asian descent being targets of harassment because the virus is believed to have originated in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is to educate, strengthen, and serve individuals and communities so that all Philadelphians can thrive. We envision a Philadelphia where every individual can achieve health, well-being, and self-determination. To ensure alignment with our mission and vision, DBHIDS will not tolerate any form of harassment or racial discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disease does not discriminate based on nationality, and neither do we.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To support immigrant and refugee communities throughout the City of Philadelphia, DBHIDS Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Team will continue identifying services needs and explore opportunities to further align coordinate, and\/or integrate services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Language Access Services: It is the responsibility of DBHIDS staff to identify and provide quality interpretation services to members with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). No person shall be denied services based on their language of preference and all attempts will be made to connect LEP persons to linguistically appropriate interpretation services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
