{"id":3346,"date":"2022-02-15T18:58:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T18:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dbhids.org\/dev\/?post_type=news&#038;p=3346"},"modified":"2022-12-06T19:01:21","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T19:01:21","slug":"immigrant-and-refugee-wellness-academy-now-accepting-applications","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/dbhids.org\/dev\/news\/immigrant-and-refugee-wellness-academy-now-accepting-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Immigrant and Refugee Wellness Academy Now Accepting Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>February 15, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is excited to launch the DBHIDS Immigrant\/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IRWA is&nbsp;a free training program designed to empower and prepare Philadelphia\u2019s multilingual\/multicultural immigrants and refugees with knowledge, resources, and tools necessary to engage in activities that address behavioral health and intellectual disability challenges, trauma, and inequity experienced within the immigrant and refugee community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pilot cohort of IRWA is accepting applications through&nbsp;<strong>Feb. 28<\/strong>.&nbsp;This knowledge- and skill-based program will start&nbsp;<strong>March 22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The benefits of this certificate program&nbsp;include behavioral health and intellectual disability knowledge and understanding, mental health&nbsp;interpretation skills, leadership and advocacy skills, and&nbsp;more.&nbsp;Training topics include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mental Health First Aid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trauma-Informed Care and Wellness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suicide Prevention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opioid Overdose Prevention and Narcan Rescue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mental Health Interpretation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Problem Gambling and Other Addictions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leadership and other skill building activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information, email\u00a0Sarorng \u201cRorng\u201d Sorn, Director of Immigrant\/Refugee Affairs and Language Access Services, at\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"mailto:Sarorng.Sorn@phila.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Sarorng.Sorn@phila.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/DBHIDS_ImmigrantRefugeeWellnessAcademy2\">Learn more and apply<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 15, 2022 The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is excited to launch the DBHIDS Immigrant\/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA).
