Sosunmolu Shoyinka, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Sosunmolu Shoyinka is a psychiatrist who obtained his undergraduate medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.
He is board-certified in General Adult Psychiatry, Community and Public Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He also holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business. His career is dedicated to ensuring access to best-in-class psychiatric treatment to the underserved. This includes inner-city, rural, immigrant, justice-involved, addicted, homeless, and other populations.
Following a brief stint as a Senior House Officer in Psychiatry in the U.K. National Health Service, he trained in General Adult psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in his senior year. Dr. Shoyinka completed fellowships in Psychosomatic Medicine and Public Psychiatry at Yale and Columbia Universities respectively. He also completed a fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at NYU.
After serving as Director of the Missouri Behavioral Pharmacy Management program, Dr. Shoyinka served as Medical Director for Sunflower and Home State Health Plans of the Centene Corporation. While at Centene, he wrote addiction services policy that covers more than 12 million lives. He also served as clinical lead/subject matter expert in creating addiction-related programs.
Dr Shoyinka’s clinical experience spans multiple settings. These include telemedicine, academic medicine, general private for-profit and state hospitals, forensic, correctional settings, primary care, federally qualified health centers and community mental health settings.
Dr. Shoyinka has served on multiple state committees and national committees. These include the Mental Health Services committee for the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association’s Workgroup on Access and Innovation in Psychiatric Care. He has served as an invited speaker at multiple state and national conferences and as a Police Crisis Intervention Team trainer.
Dr Shoyinka maintains an active clinical practice focused on treating individuals with complex behavioral, medical and psychosocial needs.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, photography, writing, martial arts, reading and catching up on the latest movies. His favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert Jordan.
