Get involved in one of nearly 200 system-shaping efforts. These initiatives are supported and/or led by DBHIDS community providers, people with lived experience, family members and other supporters, DBHIDS staff, and/or the Philadelphia community-at-large.

The Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services is engaged in nearly 200 distinct initiatives ranging from working with people who have experienced homelessness for decades and creating opportunities for them to connect/reconnect to healthy, safe alternatives to the street; to initiatives that ensure the safety and well-being of children and families. Nearly all of these efforts are supported by the provider community, people with lived experience and their families/other supporters, and communities-at-large. For our community/provider partners, this DBHIDS Initiatives document is an “FYI” and a reminder of the many things in which the Department (and you) are involved. For DBHIDS staff this document is a call to get involved with these efforts, to have your voices heard and to help transform the system.

The DBHIDS Initiatives document chronicles the many and varied activities in which the Department is involved. As the transformation of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health & Intellectual disAbility Services began nearly eight years ago, DBHIDS staff members were approached and given the opportunity to get involved in the myriad of activities that were taking place in the Department. The number of activities has increased dramatically and the opportunity is being extended to all DBHIDS staff members once again with the creation of the DBHIDS Initiatives document. If there is something DBHIDS is doing that is of interest to you, no matter the Unit in which you work, please do not hesitate to contact the person responsible and get involved!
